#StraightFromMyNotebook – Transmission methods

An infectious disease is a medical condition caused by growth and spread of small, harmful organisms.

A communicable disease is a disease that can spread from one person to another.

Transmission is the way an infectious disease gets spread

  • Direct Contact – Touching person to person
  • Indirect Contact – Spread of infection through an inanimate object. (An object that transmits infection is called a fomite).
  • Airborne Transmission – Through mechanisms like droplets (sneeze droplets, ew) or dust.
  • Vector borne – Infection by animal or insect bites etc.
